Terms & Conditions

Joan Bell-Faye | Foot Health Practitioner
These terms and conditions apply to all foot health services provided by Joan Bell-Faye. By booking an appointment, you agree to the following:
1. Professional Capacity & Scope of Service
While I maintain my registration as a Registered General Nurse (RGN) and Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN), please be aware that appointments are booked specifically for Foot Health Practitioner (FHP) services.

-
My nursing background informs my clinical judgment and safety standards; however, these sessions are not a substitute for district nursing, psychiatric nursing, or general nursing care.

-
I do not provide nursing interventions (such as medication management or wound care for non-foot related issues) during these consultations. Any such needs should be directed to your primary care team or GP.
2. Appointments & Home Visits
-
Environment: For home visits, please ensure a clean, well-lit area is available. Pets should be kept in a separate room for hygiene and safety.

-
Consent: A full medical history and consent form must be completed during the initial consultation and before any treatment is undertaken.

-
Prioritisation: To ensure clinical safety, if multiple foot health issues are identified, priority will be given to the most urgent concern. Additional treatments may be scheduled for a follow-up visit.
3. Cancellations & Missed Appointments
As a mobile practitioner, missed appointments incur significant travel and time costs.
-
Notice Period: Please provide at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule.

-
Fees: Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, or "no-shows" upon arrival, may be subject to a cancellation fee of £25.

-
Reliability Policy: Continuity of care is essential. If a patient cancels or reschedules two or more times (regardless of notice given), I reserve the right to remove that individual from my active patient list to ensure my time remains available for those requiring regular treatment.
4. Treatment Intervals & Returning Patients
Regular maintenance is key to foot health.

-
Standard Care: Routine treatments are typically offered at intervals of up to 12 weeks.

-
Lapsed Patients: If a patient has not been seen for 6 months or longer, they will be categorised as a "Returning Patient." Due to the time required to re-assess changes in medical history and foot condition, a new consultation and assessment fee will apply.
5. Fees & Payment
-
Pricing: Current fees will be confirmed at the time of booking.

-
Payment: Payment is due at the time of treatment via Cash / Bank Transfer.

-
Care Settings: For nursing or residential home contracts, invoicing terms will be agreed upon separately with the care manager or bill payer.
6. Medical Emergencies & Referrals
-
Urgent Care: I provide planned, non-emergency foot health care. If you experience signs of acute infection (such as sudden redness, heat, or swelling), a non-healing wound, or a limb-threatening issue, please contact your GP, NHS 111, or your local A&E department immediately.

-
Professional Referrals: As part of my clinical commitment to your safety, I may identify issues that require specialist medical attention. In these cases, I reserve the right to refer you to your GP, a Podiatrist, or a specialist vascular team. I can provide a brief clinical summary to assist your GP in understanding the concern.
7. Aggressive or Inappropriate Behaviour
I am committed to providing care in a respectful environment. I reserve the right to terminate an appointment immediately and withdraw my services if I encounter any form of verbal or physical abuse, or if the environment is deemed unsafe.
8. Data Protection
Your personal and clinical data is handled in accordance with the UK GDPR and my Privacy Policy. Medical records are retained for a period of 8 years as per clinical standards.
